I had watched it early this morning and an hour later went to show my husband and we couldn't get it. We're in southern Ontario. -

Is it later then you think?
by Crazyguy ina exfriend of mine gave his first public talk and that was the title.
wasn't that the title of an awake in 1969?
if so, talk about rehashing an old title.

They gave that talk a few years back as a special talk on a Sunday following the memorial. I remember that well because I was lurking here and saw the thread. So we went into the hall that week and got out the bound book out of the library opened and left on the table. The elders were in a group panicking and wondering who did it with one holding the book in his hand. All five stooges were in the second school library looking through the glass at the rest of the congregation wondering. We had a good laugh that night on the way home.

Do JW get counseled for buying a home?
by thedepressedsoul ini was curious, i couldn't find much on it.
if anything, there are a few articles that give advice on how to properly buy a home, mortgage, good location etc... .
do you know if the elders can counsel on this matter or remove privileges over it?

We had a fill-in co give a local needs on putting everything into the ministry and in this time of the end it wouldn't be wise in investing in buying homes as well as limiting our recreational vacations and hobbies. Right after that him and his snotty wife bought a house, whom by the way was living outside the territory at that time like us and had the po(he was head of the RBC) round up all the young pioneers in the hall to go and gut out the whole house, supply a ton of meals and call in tradesmen to finish it off.
The young ones were pissed because during the week the trades brothers were getting paid yet on weekends the poor young pioneers had to come and paint and clean and not get paid a cent. They didn't know how they were going to get their time in along with making ends meet on the little wages they were earning from their carpet cleaning and window cleaning jobs. They were all working for elders who had big businesses and not paying much.
After that, you didn't hear a peep out of that fillin co and his wife and he never gave another local needs on not wasteing time on material things like buying houses and vacations. The elders did this for one other couple who were best friends with the fillin and his wife. Their apartment was owned by his mother who had her whole building fixed up with all free pioneer labor all the while collecting rent from seven apartments total and not one cent went to the pioneers who did all the work. It was really pathetic to listen to when you had to work with one of these ones in service. All they did was complain about it.

1 Peter 1:20,21 True, he was foreknown before the founding of the world, but he was made manifest at the end of times for the sake of you who through him are believers in God , the one who raised him up from the dead and gave him glory, so that your faith and hope might be in God.
Yet, at John 2:19 Jesus says: " " break down this temple, (meaning his body) and in three days, he(Jesus) will raise it up. "
I often wondered about that since some scriptures say it was god that raised Jesus up and then this scripture that reads if need be that Jesus himself could raise himself up. It's a wait and see. No one really knows.

Your welcome, Cognac. One more thing for Anne Marie. In case you never get in touch with your mother, her words to me were that she loves you so much and that if you call, religion will not be discussed. She just wants to tell you she loves you and wishes you a wonderful life. That's all. -

Grace wasn't herself. She was alone and said she wasn't even going to pick up the phone because she didn't recognize the number or name. As soon as I said it was Label Licker, she chuckled a little. I told her to put a note pad beside her phone and write my name along with the phone number since she can't remember much.
She doesn't know that I put this post up since she's lost interest in a lot of things except her soap which comes on in the afternoon. She will tell you not to call between 4:30 and 5:30.
Her daughter, Susan has asked her to call her every morning now when she gets up to make sure she is ok. But it really hurt me when she said her only wish is to hear Ann Marie's voice just once before she goes. Grace didn't sound well. She was very quiet and our phone call was short. I told her I will be up in her area in March for an operation and I will have to bring my rotti with me and she said how she just loves dogs so when we are up there, I will take my Buddy up there after the operation before I head for home.
From what I gathered, Anne Marie lives in Montreal. Will call Grace again to see if I can get more info on Ann Marie. She asked her other daughter, Susan to ask Ann Marie to call her and Susan said it's pointless. She has tried with no success. Ann Marie won't do it.
I just hope Ann Marie or her children are reading this and act on it before it's too late. I feel the only thing that keeps Grace going is one day soon she might get a surprise phone call and it will be Ann Marie. One can only wish.I couldn't think of anything else to do for this poor woman but post this.

a special message to her daughter, Ann Marie if you are watching this site. Your mother is eighty-eight now and her memory is going fast. She doesn't want any visitors at this point in her life but has only one request before she dies. She wants to see you or at least talk to you at least once before she dies. Your sister, Susan can give you her phone number or private message me and I will give it to you.
It's been too long and she really wants to talk. Her only sin, if you can call it that, was she couldn't believe in 1914. You, however can believe what you want, she won't judge you. Only one can judge and that's Jesus. 1 Corinthians 4:3-5.
Please don't let her die of a broken and lonely heart, Ann Marie. You can still keep god's commandment at Exodus 20:12 where we are to honour our mother and father.
Your mother is truly a remarkable and loving woman and just wants to share that with you, Anne Marie. I didn't speak to my mother when she wanted me to call her in three weeks and she died. I wouldn't want that for you or anyone else for it will haunt you for the rest of your life.
Please call her, Ann Marie. That's all I have to say and hope your reading this.

Criminal Harassment: Stalking -- It's NOT Love
PDF 468 kbWhat Is It?
Criminal harassment, more commonly known as STALKING, is a crime. Generally it consists of repeated conduct that is carried out over a period of time and which causes you to reasonably fear for your safety or the safety of someone known to you. Stalking does not have to result in physical injury in order to make it a crime. The law protects you even if the conduct of the stalker is not done with the intent to scare you. It is enough if the conduct does scare you. This may be an advance warning of the possibility of future violent acts.
Are you or someone you know being STALKED?
Are you afraid for your safety or the safety of someone known to you because of the words or actions of another person?
- Is someone repeatedly following you or someone known to you from place to place? Repeatedly is more than one time and does not have to be for an extended period of time. The incidents may have occurred during the same day.
- Is someone repeatedly communicating with you, either directly or indirectly?
- Directly can be by telephone, in person, leaving messages on answering machines, or sending unwanted gifts, notes, letters or e-mails.
- Indirectly can be by contacting people you know and having messages sent through them or simply by making repeated unwanted inquiries about you.
- Is someone persistently close by or watching your home or any place where you or anyone known to you live, work, carry on business or happen to be?
- Have you or any member of your family been threatened by this person?
If you can answer YES to any of these questions you or someone you know may be a victim of CRIMINAL HARASSMENT - STALKING.
What to do and NOT to do
You are NOT alone! Break the silence:
- Call the police.
- Contact a community help service.
- Talk to a friend, co-worker or family member.
Maintain detailed notes about the stalking conduct. Dates, times, places, actions and threats are easier to explain and remember when written down.
Keep all recorded telephone messages, e-mails, gifts, letters or notes that have been sent by the individual. Keep a list of emergency numbers posted in several locations. Emergency numbers should include:
- police;
- immediate family;
- friends;
- co-workers; and
- victim’s advocacy groups.
Pay attention to incidents that may seem coincidental. Are you suddenly running into this person more often? If you are not sure if you are being stalked contact the police.
Do NOT agree to have contact with a person who you think may be stalking you - contact the police. Each stalking situation is different. Consider that sometimes, when a stalker is confronted or meets with resistance, he/she may react with violence or the conduct may escalate.
What do we know about stalkers in Canada?
Criminal harassment (stalking) is not an activity that is attributed to any one specific psychiatric diagnosis. There is no single profile of a stalker that exists. It appears that the main motivation for stalking another person is the desire to control, particularly in cases where the subject is a former partner.
Individuals who stalk may possess one or more various psychological conditions, from personality disorders to mental illness. Most individuals who stalk are engaging in obsessional behaviour. They have persistent thoughts and ideas concerning the object of their attentions. A stalker does not necessarily have a psychiatric disorder.Legal History of Criminal Harassment
Stalking is not new but recognition of it as a distinct criminal behaviour took place on August 1, 1993. The creation of the new offence of criminal harassment was introduced as a specific response to violence against women. The creation of Section 264 of the Criminal Code of Canada makes this conduct a crime.Types of stalkers*
Simple Obsessional: The majority of these stalkers have been in some form of relationship with the victim. The contact may have been minimal, such as a blind date, but more commonly is a prolonged dating relationship, common law union or marriage. The perpetrator refuses to recognize that the relationship with the other person is over and the prevailing attitude is “if I can’t have her (or him) then no one else will.” A campaign of harassment, intimidation and psychological terror is mounted. The motivation for the harassment and stalking varies from revenge to the false belief that they can convince or coerce the victim back into the relationship.
Erotomanic: Is convinced that the object of his or her attention, usually of the opposite sex, fervently loves him or her and would return the affection if it were not for some external influence. The person about whom this conviction is held is usually of a higher status than the stalker but is often not a celebrity. It could be the supervisor at work, their child’s pediatrician, their church minister or the police officer who stopped them for a traffic violation but did not charge them. Sometimes it can be a complete stranger.
Love Obsessional: The stalker can be obsessed in his or her “love” without possessing the belief that the victim loves him or her. Very often the love obsessional stalker suffers from a major psychiatric illness such as schizophrenia or mania and wants to “win over” the love of his or her victim.
Another recognized but not well studied group of stalkers are those who stalk as a component to their paraphiliac (sexually deviant) focus. Some rapists and pedophiles have stalked because it is incorporated in their sexually deviant fantasies. Some sexual sadist will go through “behavioural try-outs” that will include stalking.
